A road-stop ritual for reversing the compression of driving—moving the blood and lymph, reconnecting with the land, releasing the organs, and bringing the body back to life.

Re-entering the Body

Maxfield: This recording is about truck stops, road trips, stopovers.

So, realigning oneself with their body and the basics is what I like to do on these stopovers. I park, clean out my pockets, and I start moving.

I do, like, a really energetic jog. Lunges—back lunges, which are so important—backwards. And I engage upper-body twists, especially if I was driving, almost like I’m in a karate film.

This gets the blood moving in the vessels. It purges stuck lymph to keep emotions flowing, amongst many other things.

And then I try to get water and do big breathing, and kind of expand my energy field, since I’m no longer in the tin can.

Grounding into the Local Space

Maxfield: Lydia likes to say, “Touch a tree.” And if you can go touch and hug a tree, you’re grounded in that local space.

It makes a big difference if you get an old tree. New trees don’t matter so much. If they’re not plugged into the community—into the surrounding trees—it doesn’t really do so much.

LuLu Bear, what do you like to do?

LuLu: I like to find a grassy place, out of sight, to pee, because peeing in toilets is fucking bullshit, and everybody should stop doing it immediately.

It’s disgusting, and it fucks you up. Pee on the Earth. Give back to the Earth, and let its resonance reorganize your geometry from your root.

That’s how you’re supposed to pee.

Maxfield: Thank you, Lydia.

Reversing the Driving Position

Maxfield: And, yeah, the reason for the back lunges is because when you’re in the sitting position, you’re stuck in a front contraction all the time. When you do a back lunge, it reverses that, which is really important for balancing.

And I like to get lots of whirlwind shakes in. I just try to move.

You want to move your lymph. You want to move your neurotransmitters. You want to get your cerebrospinal fluid pumping and cleansing your brain—to refresh everything.

Not just cleaning, but pumping with life.

The body cleans automatically when it’s healthy. If you just get that thing fucking going, it’ll clean itself. You don’t have to worry about that.

Resetting the Organs

Maxfield: And then you’ll feel more mental vitality. You’ll feel more physical vitality. It moves your digestive system around.

I try to lie down on my belly if I can, personally, because I had digestive issues for so long. And then it gets my organs to reset.

A lot of people don’t know, but when you’re sitting upright all the time, it’s the bottom part of your intestines—the bottom side of them—that are weighted all the time.

So when you kind of invert, it moves that, and it gets into the top part of the intestines. And you hear lots of…

Very good. Very healthy.
