Goosebumps: A Truth Detector

LuLu and Max explore goosebumps as a body-level signal: not simply emotion, but a localized response that may arrive when a gland, a truth, or a capacity is coming alive.

Hair as an Antenna

LuLu: This is a continuation of hair as a technology. We’re talking about how hair acts as this antenna and perceives the world around it.

It also seems to perceive what is true and false to some degree.

Max and I have both noticed this interesting phenomenon: when we’re speaking out loud about something that we feel our body is saying—something that it wants to do—connecting to that gland system as a particular quality, and understanding what it’s trying to initiate in our bodies and what it’s trying to initiate in the world.

When we’re speaking on it accurately, it seems to flood that entire area. All of those pores and hair follicles—we get goosebumps in that particular area.

I’ve tested this with various people, with clients before, where I have them say the truth-confessions that unlock that particular gland system. They seem to get goosebumps in that region.

So when it’s heart chakra—which would be like a serotonin confession—and they say things out loud like:

“I want to have family.”“I want to be valued for my gifts.”“I believe that I am enough.”“I want to learn how to contribute to community and use compassion to solve problems in the world.”

They get goosebumps in this area: on the chest, on the arms, and on the upper back.

So it’s area-dependent.

A Localised Signal

Max: As I’m activating my feminine sixth chakra, it’s the left side of my head, basically.

With sixth chakra, when things are said or perceived through that part of the chakra and are true, it tingles. I don’t know if it’s always truth—it might be a new unlock. It’s when you expand your boundary and you get the goosebumps.

I’ve noticed it’s the left side of my head, where I don’t normally get it there. There are levels of this. It’s a gradient.

The last days I’ve been really working on feminine sixth, I’ve been getting these potent sensations all the way down the throat. It’s like literally my head was split in half, down the left side of my face, into my ear and into my left shoulder.

[Unclear phrase.]

If you’re full-body shivers, that’s an absolute truth for you, I think, through and through.

Lulu: It makes sense that the body was designed to have its own lie detector and its own truth-signalling communication of some kind. I think that just further encourages us to find more intimacy with our bodies, so that we can uncover what those truths are.

Max: We need to research ancient people and what they called the goosebumps. They probably called it shivers—at least the white folk, for a while. “I had shivers down my spine.” I think that would be incredibly useful.

I’ve also been getting my feminine root on lately, and so my left leg has been lighting up in shivers. It’s very area-dependent, because it should be a nervous-system response. It’s the same area.

This is where straight lines show up, because it’s a clear, defined border of each gland activating.

Expansion Beyond the Old Boundary

Max: We might consider that any erection is the ultimate version of this, I guess.

Yeah. I’m attracted to that—like, “This thing is true for me. That is expanding. That thing will expand my truth,” or something. Maybe that’s what wetness is.

I’m just giving it a dramatic—I don’t think this is actually correct—but it’s like, bing.

Lulu: I think goosebumps or shivers happen when that gland, that part of our body, is expanding outside of a limitation that I was previously confined to.

That’s what I’ve noticed. It’s not that every time I say something, those shivers will happen. It will kind of happen the first time that I’m coming to understand that truth and acting on it. So it’s that expansion phase where it happens.

And it’s interesting because I think a lot of people find that sensation uncomfortable. Expansion into a new realm of a certain technology and new ability is intimidating.

For example, there was one woman I knew who was really struggling with this idea that you could listen to the Earth and listen to your body, and that it would tell you something that was true.

I was at the table sharing a real experience of that, and she said that she got goosebumps and it made her want to leave the table.

Which is interesting. It can also serve as this—not intimidation—but this feeling of: “This thing is outside of my current scope of experience.”

The Simulation of a Tree

Max: As a complete left turn, I’m staring at this very oddly shaped building built into the trees, which looks like a tree but isn’t a tree. Clearly an architect designed it: cement and glass.

When I look at that, I get no shivers.

But if I instead think the thought, “That is just the simulation of a tree, and we could just live in the trees instead,” then in my heart I get mild shivers. I get mild shivers in my left—and little bits of tingles all over my body, like activations.

Truth has an activation in the body. You can feel it. It’s very palpable. It’s absolutely palpable.

I think people always wonder, “How do you know?” We can feel it.

Lulu: And developing intuition—part of it is, you need to feel when you’re wrong. You’ve got to develop this sense.

So it might be that intuition, what we’re calling intuitive guidance, our sensor for that is actually bodily sensation.

The body does recognise truth. And the interesting thing is, the more steps away we take from that truth, the more we accept lies. The body’s mechanism of deciphering truth versus lies becomes muted and dim.

So we have to take all of these steps back in the direction of truth for that lie detector—that internal lie detector—to become more and more sensitive and accurate.
