*An exploration of nutriment as more than fuel: the body craving specific foods according to the work it is preparing to perform, the information carried by another living being, and the difference between eating for *agility* versus eating for openness, creativity, and receptivity.*

**The Body Knows the Mission**

**Max:**We’re discussing the role of nutriment. LuLu is having coffee and just had something she will talk to you about. I’m having fruit and peanut butter.

And talked about a few things today, really deep diving into pancreas and multidimensionality of experiences and their absorption.

**LuLu:**So yesterday I was very specifically craving fish. Like, it wasn’t so much beef, it wasn’t chicken, it was like *very specifically fish and white fish.*

And we were talking about how, when our minds and our bodies are oriented and aware of a mission and a work that we’re carrying out, **the body craves the right things to execute that mission.**

And I was sitting down and eating this fish this morning, and my whole body, like, *lit the fuck up*. It felt so satiated by this thing.

**Recognizing the Being**

**LuLu:**And I did—it was interesting because I also got a little—it was like a whole fish, a whole white fish—and I got this little bone stuck in the top of my lip.

And I had to pull it out and, like, tore out part of my lip.

And immediately I knew why.

Immediately I was like, oh, I did not recognize this being that has given its life for this mission that I am working toward—this mission that is in support of nature.

Which may sound strange and ironic, to eat a fish in support of nature, but everything also returns back to the earth and does support nature when you’re living correctly.

But then, when I noticed that this happened, I put my awareness toward this being, and I asked what its codes were.

And it said:

***Agility.***

And it was like, in an abstract kind of storytelling way, that’s the thing that my body was looking for. It was looking for the **agility that this being has the code for.**

**Agility vs. Openness**

**Max:**You know, it’s interesting. I feel as though, as I eat peanut butter and papaya and plant-based—even though there’s this delicious fish in front of me—it’s just not the code that my body wanted.

It’s not the mission that I have.

I want creativity and dynamism versus agility.

Agility, I think, is something of like a gallbladder function. It has a thing that it’s opposing. You are agile *against a thing.* Agility has a target, for example.

Whereas, like, **I just wanted to be open and receptive. More pancreas.**

Nuts and fruit are excellent as just staying open.

But you won’t really have a big mission. Like, I don’t feel motivated.

Like, I probably shouldn’t go outside of the house in this mode, *if I have a mission.*

---

**Sacrifice, Mission & Reverence**

**Max:**But, you know, I feel as though for LuLu’s example of eating the fish—and I’m calling them *sacrifices* now instead of what a lot of people call them—the fish, which is a specific code, has given its life to a mission that has a higher complexity of code. It’s a greater mission. It’s a greater possibility.

For example, if my teacher gives me an assignment which is beyond me and requires me to go and accumulate knowledge that I don’t have and abilities I don’t have to complete, **I have sacrificed my freedom and my life for this teacher’s vision or mission, and therefore become a greater version of myself.**

This is what the fish has become for LuLu.

And I guess the peanut butter and the fruit, which are so willing to give themselves to any mission, really—they’re like, *hey, whatever. As long as you accomplish my mission.*

Well, because they have a mission, which is their seeds to be spread.

If you spread my mission, I’ll spread your mission. No problem.

And there’s probably a rule where you should plant at least one nut out of all the nuts that you eat or something—which is why nut butters probably are a little bit fucked up, because you’ve destroyed the peanut’s mission, or the nut’s mission, in some way.

**Eating According to the Mission**

**LuLu:**Differences of experiences.

And I feel that understanding your role relative to a mission becomes extremely important when understanding **what it is that your body is craving and what it is that your body is trying to activate.**

Like right now, my body is trying to activate a really high level of initiation and purposefulness, and being able to oppose something that I see and understand in the world to be false.

And so, in order to oppose something meaningfully, I need the agility and resilience to be able to do that without then, like, yielding to that thing.

And you need an army, a team.

And you can consume this thing to make it your ally—to make it a part of you.

We’ve lost this because the souls of beings that are unfresh—the souls of unfresh food—are often gone. But the soul of that fish was *very there*, relatively.

And so she has now **a fish on her team within her**, helping to make this happen.

**Separation and the One Body**

**LuLu:**And again, I feel that that sounds really sadistic and bizarre for a lot of people, and I relate to that because I spent a lot of my adult life being vegan or vegetarian. Like, a lot of my adult life I’ve spent being vegetarian.

And the strange thing is that when you feel so separate from the world, you have this experience that everything is a separate being from you.

And then, on a different level, when you remember that **we are all actually one body**—and the entire earth and everything living on it and in it is one body—it’s just another part of you to contribute itself to the same goal.

But I think that goal has to be *true*, and that’s the difference.

That’s kind of the difference between eating a fish from a place of wanting to oppose the thing that is killing and destroying the earth, versus eating a fish so that you can do more damage to earth.

It brings up a lot of thoughts and ideas and questions.

You know, like, who designed the game so that way you could consume a thing? And what happens if you do consume that thing? Is there a best way to do that?

**Consuming the Energetic**

**LuLu:**It brings up the Native Americans, for example, and the way that they felt like if you wanted to embody an energetic, you would consume that thing.

If you wanted the energy of a deer—of elegance and freedom and speed, short speed, and softness and alertness—you would choose a deer.

If you wanted aggressiveness and contention, then you would choose a—sure—a bison or a bear.

And back to Little Bear.

I think it’s just the continuation of, again, **understanding everything as an entity and as a code.**

**Reverence Requires Understanding**

**LuLu:**But I feel that, in any case, the only way there is to really consume anything is to do it with reverence and an understanding for that thing.

It’s like, how can you be reverent for something if you don’t understand what it is? If you don’t understand its meaning and its purpose and its code and its history, and why it exists here in the context of everything else?

To understand those things is to be reverent.

And I don’t think we have any business eating anything without reverence, or participating in anything without reverence.

And that’s why the fish made sure that I got that little bone stuck in my lip and tore my lip a little bit.

It was like a little slap in the face of:

***Have some reverence right now. Pay attention.***

**Pay attention with what you’re interacting with.**

---

**Plants, Pregnancy & Precision**

**LuLu:**And that reverence really extends to plants also.

There’s this strange thing floating around modern humans where they think that eating a plant is much less violent than eating an animal. And it, to me, just reveals another layer of ignorance and lack of connection, where you think that **a plant body is not as alive as an animal body.**

And of course, people have things to say like there’s, you know, the suffering element and all of these things. And sure, it has a different type of nervous system, but it is still a living being that you have torn out of its home, and it is now not alive because you’re consuming it.

And that thing also deserves the same level of reverence.

**Pregnancy as Mission**

**LuLu:**There was also this thing before I started eating the fish. This is a bit of a side note, but I felt it was important to this conversation.

I realized, in this conversation that we’ve been having about our bodies being oriented toward a mission and then therefore craving certain things, I was thinking a lot about pregnant women and this stereotype and phenomenon that happens with women during pregnancy where they have all of these *highly specific cravings.*

It’s like their body is so aware of precisely the thing that they require, that they are deficient in, in order to build some type of cell that their womb is weaving in their fetus.

**And that’s a mission.**

Like, your body hosting this life is a type of mission, and the body is aware of it, and the mind is aware of it, and that’s why these specific cravings come.

And I think that’s exactly the example that Max and I have been talking about.

When we are aware of a project and a mission that we have, **our body can know exactly what puzzle piece it needs.**

**Finding the Puzzle Piece**

**LuLu:**And so our bodies will try to scan the environment and get us as close to that shape and that exact piece of the puzzle that it requires to be able to fulfill this role.

And sometimes, when we don’t have that thing available, it’ll try and find like five or ten different things that, when they come together, form that same thing—or they’ll form roughly about the same shape, roughly about the same ratio of certain nutrients and certain codes.

And I think when we do that, we feel like we have to eat more.

When our body is very clear of the specific puzzle piece it needs and it has access to it, it actually doesn’t require that much of it.

It’s like that *perfect puzzle piece* versus breaking apart a bunch of different shards of something and trying to fill this gap that you need.

When you have the perfect piece that fits snugly right there, **you don’t need all these other random pieces.**

**Efficiency as Reverence**

**LuLu:**And that’s the body being precise and efficient.

And when we’re efficient, we’re actually in reverence of all of the beings in the world because we’re not over-consuming things that we don’t need to consume.

We’re only consuming exactly what we need to consume to be in support of this continuation of the balance of this ecosystem that we live in.
